‘I grew up with Whippets and Border Collies, and as soon as I could, I had dogs of my own. My first was a Border Collie puppy given to me by a farmer while I was camping in his field at the bottom of Snowdon! Just a few weeks later, I also got a gorgeous liver Flat-Coated Retriever puppy. I love watching puppies play, bond and grow up together. In summer 2026, I got my second pair of puppies, a Labrador and a Golden Retriever this time. I absolutely adore dogs of all breeds, but I definitely have a thing for the high-energy, hard-work ones! Ha.
I started A Good Lead in April 2026 after supporting a friend with walking her two Labradors. She had a life-limiting condition and was bedbound, so she could no longer walk them herself. It was an absolute pleasure to be trusted to care for her most important possessions. She inspired and encouraged me to start my professional dog-walking business, with a special aim: to make sure every dog gets to enjoy their favourite part of the day, walkies! We do this by using part of our profits to subsidise our rates for older and disabled people on low incomes.
Sadly, only a month after I opened A Good Lead’s doors, she passed away, and her dogs were adopted. She never got to see how successful A Good Lead became, but I will be forever thankful to her for encouraging me to do this. She was right, it’s made me really happy.‘
